Barcelona have been in the buzz since the appointment of Hansi Flick, as the German boss has been very active in showing interest in players or even updating his coaching staff.

Thiago Alcantara, well-known for his youth career with Barcelona, made the team in 2009. The Spanish defensive midfielder had been in the best of seasons with the club, winning La Liga, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup, after which he was moved to Germany as the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich showed keen interest in the Spanish asset.

Moving to Bayern, Thiago seemed an even more evolved player and even got more game time, which earned him seven consecutive Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions Trophy alongside a Continental treble.

During his time at Bayern until his move to Liverpool in 2020, the Spanish midfielder was the best of friends with the German boss. After Thiago announced his retirement this month, following his not-so-decent stint with Liverpool last season, Barcelona have shown interest in including the player in their coaching unit to assist Flick.

For now, Thiago’s post might be temporary, especially due to the fact that the 33-year-old is not too old to leave football, indicating he is a player of the modern era, where age doesn’t count your goals. However, the Spaniard has been spotted in the training sessions of FCB already, which raises the speculations.

Thiago’s hiring is expected to be made by Barcelona as they try to reach an agreement with the club; however, his hiring is mainly to form a link between the players and the German boss. His fluency in both Spanish and German only adds to his credit. This may be a deciding move in Thiago’s career, so even Thiago might look to seal all corners well before he sets foot back at Camp Nou.
