Major League Soccer club Minnesota United is actively seeking to appoint 32-year-old Erik Ramsey as their new head coach for the upcoming seasons. Erik Ramsay, who is currently serving for Manchester United as an assistant coach, is likely to become the youngest head coach in Major League Soccer history.

The deal isn’t final, but Erik Ramsey remains the leading candidate for the role. This would be his second contract as head coach in his managerial career of eight years. Minnesota was in search of an extensive coaching squad after the departure of Adrian Heath last season. He was the only coach in the club’s seven years in MLS history.

Ramsey is in talks to be the next head coach for the MLS side

Following Adrian Heath’s departure, Minnesota United also terminated Mark Watson’s contract. The team finished 21st of 29 last season. 32-year-old Erik Ramsey will be bringing experience from the Red Devils side into the Minnesota club. Ramsey is considered one of the best young coaches in football at this moment.

Manchester United and Minnesota United both are negotiating the terms for Ramsey’s final move but it’s believed that United head coach Erik Ten Hag might find it hard to let go of Ramsey as he’s been a major support in the squad.

United are placed sixth in the points table of the Premier League with 44 points. However, despite this success, Ten Hag has voiced frustration regarding budget and the downfall in performance as they finished third last season.

According to The Mirror, “When we were in the summer, I think we had very good momentum. We had finished third, we won one final, and were in another final,” said the manager.

“Then we chose to bring in young players for the future – and that had to do with FFP.” “That was the choice we made,” he continued. “But you then know it will take longer before you can come into the competition for the top positions in the Premier League or Champions League.”
