IPL 2023: Top 3 finishers to watch out for

Source: ICC

IPL 2023: IPL has been the perfect tournament for a batsman since its very first edition, Most of the great performers in IPL come usually from the Top 3 batting spots, for example – Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Jos Buttler, KL Rahul and David Warner.

But the most important part of a T20 batting inning has always been its death overs and IPL has certain players showing the legacy in the death overs with huge hits going out of the park. They are called finishers. Batters like MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers, and Kieron Pollard have been serving in this finishing role over the years.

With the death overs being the most important phase of a T20 batting inning, these end overs’ power hitters have turned out to be the real match-winners for their respective franchises. Providing clinical victories from impossible situations has been the role of this set of players coming towards the end of the innings.

Now with so much power in almost every Franchises’s batting order, it’s a tough call to pick up the top 3 out of many splendid finishers delivering important runs with the bat at a blazing strike rate –  in some cases nearing 200 too.

Let’s have a look at the Top 3 finishers to watch out for in the upcoming edition of IPL 2023.

1. Tim David

The Australian-origin ex-Singapore International has set the cricketing world talking about him with his performances in the last few years in the shorter format of the game. David recently joined the Australian national side and proved to be clinical for them in the end overs.

The Mumbai Indian’s number 6 would be expected to nail sixes with his big blows towards the end of the innings. With the departure of the Pandya brothers and the expected release of Pollard too now it is on David to take the Mumbai team home in the latter half of their innings in IPL 2023.

2. Andre Russell

We don’t need words or stats to explain the finishing power of dre Russ. The big West Indian is one of the cleanest strikers of the white ball. Playing widespread cricket over the years Russel torments the bowlers with his explosive batting and makes the boundary fielders rest with his humongous hits.

Though he has not been promising in the last 2-3 editions, we know that Form is temporary but class is permanent. All the KKR fans would love to see him back in his old groove and his return to form would be a great watch for all cricket fans.

3. David Miller

With not much batting strength in the GT side, Miller had to come in too early in the lineup for someone like his finishing calibre. With some expected batting to arrive this year in the Titans middle-order, Miller can be seen playing more the role of a finisher. Moreover, who would not want Killer Millers’ last edition’s form to continue even in this year’s IPL?

The South African leftie is undoubtedly the most dependable and trustworthy finisher for this format of the game. Having scored a century recently in the last bilateral series against India in India, Miller has announced his glorified recent form to cricket lovers waiting to watch him in action for the Titans in IPL 2023.
