After England’s yet another loss at the Euro finals, their long-time manager, Gareth Southgate, has stepped down from his position in English football. After calling it off for Southgate, the FA has made a firm claim that their search for his replacement is already underway.

The FA has also given hints about hiring an interim coach, as England are all set to begin their Nations League campaign in September. Southgate in 2019 took England to the semis of the Nations League, with that being England’s best performance as they ended third in the competition.

After FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham started looking for Southgate’s successor, several top managers and head coaches have had trustworthy and splendid careers with several clubs around the world.

Until the FA confirms signing a boss for a longer period, the one who would be permanent with the Three Lions until the World Cup 2026, they have decided to call for an interim coach, and one of the leading candidates in the role would be Lee Carsley.

The ex-Everton boss has seen major success with the club before being assigned as a full-time coach for England’s U-21 team, which has seen immense success under him. Though many contenders for the role seem more eligible than Carsley, with the likes of Liverpool maestro Klopp and Graham Potter,.

It is often said by the greats that there is no such great coach as Southgate in England, and hence the FA needs to look out of the country. However, for the longtime substitute, Graham Potter and Eddie Howe remain the forerunners.

However, for immediate action and England’s chances in the Nations League, Carsley seems perfect, as the 50-year-old English youth coach has had unthinkable records for the England U-21 team. He relishes a win percentage of nearly 80% in the number of appearances the England youth team has made under him.

Just like Southgate, who was the youth team’s manager before being put on an interim role with the Three Lions and then went on to be the greatest among English football managers, with the likes of Lee Carsley following a similar path, all hopes would be pinned on his appointment, at least for an interim trial role.
