With the IPL committee now having released all of their new player retention rules, several new policies are being ruled into the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

According to the new rule, all of the IPL franchises can now retain as many as 6 players, among which 5 can be retained directly while one RTM has also been provided to the side.

With a surge in the auction budget, by 20 Crores from the previous editions, the total current auction money would range upto INR 120 crores.

However, they have also included a set range to offer the players to be retained, as the IPL committee asked the players to be retained for 18 Crores14 Crores and 11 Crores in the first three positions.

The uncapped player rule, however, allows International players who have not featured in a single international game across a period of 4-5 years and are hence classified as uncapped players. However, the real set of uncapped players means that the player has never featured in an international match.

1. Faf du Plessis

Though the legendary batter has previously been a star to have played for the South African team and also captained them previously, the legend retired in 2020 following his last game in the shortest format. Since then, Faf has only played in global leagues and hence can be treated as an uncapped international player.

2. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni, the name says it all, that the legend is not a traditional uncapped player, however, the 43-year-old still remains an asset to guide their youngsters to glory. The Captain Cool might be included for another season by the Super Kings.

3. Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine was first included in the Knight Riders side back in 2012, and since then the franchise has never parted ways with the legend. The all-rounder last starred for his national side West Indies back in 2019, when he played his final T20I.

4. Vijay Shankar

A quite handy all-rounder, Vijay Shankar can come in handy for many sides if they are in the hunt for a replacement option in the role of an all-rounder. The all-rounder last played for India during the 2019 set of ODI as well as T20I series and since then he has never starred internationally.

5. Piyush Chawla

Though Piyush Chawla has not starred in overall of 50 international matches for the Men in Blue, still in an amazing feat of events he has been an eminent part of India’s title triumph in both the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the Cricket World Cup in 2011.

Chawla a true veteran of the IPL is the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL history with his last featured international match in 2012.
