ICC WTC 2025-2027 Points Table

ICC WTC 2025-2027 Points Table: The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–2027 is heating up, and Team India’s latest performance has added a new spark to the standings.

After a hard-fought 2-2 draw against England away from home, Shubman Gill’s India began their home Test campaign with authority — completing a 2-0 clean sweep against West Indies.

In the second Test held in New Delhi, India defeated Roston Chase’s side by seven wickets, showcasing complete dominance in both batting and bowling departments.

This victory not only gave India crucial WTC points but also improved their points percentage (PCT), bringing them much closer to the top two spots.

Shubman Gill

India’s Dominant Start Under Shubman Gill

Leading the side for the first time in a home Test series, Shubman Gill could not have asked for a better start to his captaincy.

India’s bowling unit was clinical, led by Kuldeep Yadav, who wreaked havoc in the first innings. His spell dismantled the West Indian top order, setting up a comfortable chase for the hosts.

Chasing 121 in the fourth innings, KL Rahul anchored the innings with a composed half-century, ensuring India cruised to victory without much trouble.

The highlight of the series, however, was Ravindra Jadeja, who once again proved why he is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world. His consistent performances with both bat and ball earned him the Player of the Series award.

With this win, India not only maintained their unbeaten home record but also gained valuable points in the ongoing WTC cycle.

WTC 2025–2027 Standings After India vs West Indies 2nd Test

After the conclusion of the second Test in New Delhi, the WTC points table remains largely unchanged in terms of positions, but India’s PCT (Points Percentage) saw a notable rise.

  • Before the Delhi Test, India’s PCT stood at 55.56%, following their emphatic win in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs.
  • After registering back-to-back wins over West Indies, India’s PCT climbed to 61.90%, securing 24 points from the two Tests.

This surge in points has brought India within touching distance of second-placed Sri Lanka (66.67%), while Australia continue to dominate the standings with a perfect 100% PCT after winning all three Tests they’ve played so far.

How WTC Points and PCT Work

In the World Test Championship, teams earn points for each match result within a series:

  • Win: 12 points
  • Draw: 4 points
  • Tie: 6 points
  • Loss: 0 points

The Points Percentage (PCT), which determines the official ranking, is calculated as the percentage of points a team has earned out of the total possible points contested. This system ensures fairness across teams that may play differing numbers of matches.

India’s improved PCT of 61.90% after the West Indies series reflects their growing consistency and ability to convert home advantage into results.

Other Teams in the Mix

Australia currently lead the table with three consecutive wins, giving them a flawless start to their WTC campaign. Their fast bowling unit, spearheaded by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, has been instrumental in securing those victories.

Sri Lanka, having defeated Bangladesh 1-0 in their two-match Test series, are sitting comfortably in the second spot with 16 points and a 66.67% PCT.

England, meanwhile, hold the fourth position with 26 points and a 43.33% PCT, following a mixed start to their campaign, which includes two wins, two draws, and one loss.

At the bottom half of the table, Bangladesh (16.67%) and West Indies (0%) are struggling to gain momentum, while New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are yet to begin their WTC journeys.

Interestingly, the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa is currently underway, which will soon introduce changes in the lower half of the standings.

India’s Road Ahead in the WTC Cycle

For Team India, the focus now shifts to maintaining their winning rhythm in upcoming series. Their next assignments include challenging tours to South Africa and New Zealand, followed by home fixtures against Australia and Pakistan.

The key for India will be consistency across different conditions. While the home dominance is evident, overseas performances will define their WTC campaign. The emergence of young leaders like Shubman Gill, combined with the experience of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jadeja, makes India a strong contender for a place in the 2027 WTC Final.

Conclusion

India’s 2-0 clean sweep over West Indies has once again reinforced their status as one of the world’s most complete Test teams. Under Shubman Gill’s leadership, the team looks confident, balanced, and hungry for success.

With Australia setting a high benchmark and Sri Lanka showing steady improvement, the WTC 2025–2027 cycle promises to be one of the most competitive editions yet. As things stand, India’s improved PCT of 61.90% has firmly put them in contention for the top two spots, keeping their WTC Final hopes alive and strong.
