WPL 2026 Retention

All five franchises have finalised their retained and released players list before the WPL 2026 Auction, which is scheduled on November 27, 2025.  Some of the top players like Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Deepti Sharma have been released ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction.

Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are the only teams that retained all five players, whereas Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained four players. Gujarat Giants retained two players and UP Warriorz retained only one player for the upcoming WPL season. It was quite expected that MI, DC, and RCB would try to save their maximum players as they had a title winning core squad.

WPL 2026 Retention List:

Delhi Capitals (DC): Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Niki Prasad.

Mumbai Indians (MI): Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amanjot Kaur, G Kamalini and Hayley Matthews.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB): Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil.

Gujarat Giants (GG): Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney

UP Warriorz (UPZ): Shweta Sehrawat.

Some Big Names not Retained ahead of WPL 2026 Auction

Australia’s Women’s Cricket Team captain Alyssa Healy was not retained by UP Warriorz, whereas Delhi Capitals released their skipper Meg Lanning. The Mumbai Indians released New Zealand star all-rounder Amelia Kerr. These are some of the big overseas players who are not retained by the franchise.

India Women’s Cricket Team star all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who also led Up Warriorz in the absence of Alyssa Healy, has also been released by the franchise ahead of the WPL 2026 Mega Auction. Deepti was the Player of the tournament in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

RTM left for each franchise:

Both Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will enter the WPL 2026 Auction with a purse of Rs. 5.75 crore as they have retained all five players, and they have no RTM card. However, UP Warriorz retained only one player; therefore, they have the highest purse of Rs. 14.5 crore and four RTM cards.

Gujarat Giants retained two players, hence they will have a budget of Rs. 9 crore and three RTM cards. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have retained four players therefore they have a purse of Rs. 6.25 core and only one RTM.
