World Cup 2023: England made changes in their World Cup Squad, Brydon Carse replaces injured Reece Topley: On Saturday, Reece Topley got injured during England’s match against South Africa. His left index finger got broken, and he has been ruled out of the tournament.

Brydon Carse got approval from the ICC Event Technical Committee for Reece Topley’s replacement in England’s World Cup squad. In the last match against South Africa, Reece Topley got injured, and he will be out of the squad for the whole tournament.

After that, England made a change in their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s World Cup. The replacement of a player in the team requires the ICC’s Event Technical Committee approval, and the player can be officially added to the squad before the replacement.

England had an option to recall the last World Cup Winner, Jofra Archer, but they chose Brydon Carse, a player with limited experience in international crickets. Brydon Carse made his last appearance in September against Ireland.

Carse played 12 ODIs in which he took 14 wickets and bowled 82.4 overs with an Economy of 5.74 and an average of 33.92 and given 475 runs. He had taken five wickets against Pakistan and a subsequent strong performance against New Zealand and Netherlands, which caught the selector’s attention.

Currently, England is in tenth position at the point table, with three losses against New Zealand, Afghanistan, and South Africa and one win against Bangladesh. In the first match, against New Zealand, England lost the match by nine wickets, and in the second match, against Bangladesh, they won by 137 runs.

In the third match, against Afghanistan, they lost by 69 runs, and in the last match against South Africa, they lost the match by 229 runs. The next match of England is scheduled with Sri Lanka at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Sri Lanka won only one game against the Netherlands and lost three consecutive matches against South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia. Both the teams have 2 points in the point table and lost three matches equally.
