IND vs AUS 5th Test: Jasprit Bumrah has become a headache for the Australian batters in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and they don’t have an answer against him. He has been troubling them time and time again and is leading the wicket-taking column for India in the series.
With the fifth and final test underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the match has come to a stage where India need their ace pacer badly. But just after the lunch break on Day 2, idnia suffered a major blow when Bumrah left the field due to discomfort on his back.
He was rushed to the hospital for the scans, and it was some hours of tension for the team and fans. However, a couple of hours later, he was back, and Indian fans took a sigh of relief. But the biggest question is whether Bumrah can take further part in the ongoing match or not.
IND vs AUS 5th Test: “Jasprit Bumrah had a back spasm” – Prasidh Krishna
The ongoing SCG test has come to a point where we might have a result on Day 3 itself. India are 141/6 with a lead of 145 runs. They will look to add as many runs to the total and bowl Australia out. But for that, they need Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rattling the Australian batting order consistently throughout the series.
However, there has been no update from the Indian camp on his injury, but some media reports have hinted at his availability for Day 3. According to a report by Sahil Malhotra from TOI, Bumrah might be available to bat if required on Day 3. But his participation as a bowler is still in doubt. According to him, his role as abowler will be confirmed after assessing the situation on Day 3 morning.
Furthermore, Prasidh Krishna also updated about Bumrah’s situation during the post-match press conference. He said, “He had a back spasm. He had gone for scans. The medical team is monitoring him. So, we will know whenever the medical team gets back to us.”
Jasprit Bumrah has done the bulk of the bowling in this series and has bowled close to 150 overs, which is the most for him ever in a test series. He has taken 32 wickets and has been India‘s go-to bowler. That’s where the team will need his skill set when they step on the field to defend the title in the fourth innings.
Krishan, Mohammed Siraj, and Nitish Kumar Reddy did pretty well in his absence in the first innings, but asking them to do it again can be a big call. The match is evenly poised at the moment, and India will hope that they can have Bumrah fully fit to bowl.
