The Chennai Super Kings have named Mumbai’s 17-year-old talent, Ayush Mhatre, as the replacement for their full-time skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, in the CSK squad for the remaining matches in IPL 2025.
CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was reported earlier the previous week to have suffered a blow to his elbow against Tushar Deshpande that has injured him to the extent of missing the remainder of the IPL. Now, though the young batter from Mumbai went unsold in the auction with a base price of Rs.30 lakh, his stellar domestic form has brought him to the notice of CSK scouts.
