India started their World Test Championship journey well but is now in trouble after losing to Australia in Melbourne. This defeat has made it harder for them to reach the WTC Final, and they must win the upcoming matches to stay in the race. The Indian side is hanging by a thread and has to rely on others to reach the 2025 World Test Championship final in London.

The recent Test series has not gone in India’s favour, as the team has faced setbacks and struggled to maintain consistent form. Despite showing glimpses of brilliance in certain matches, they have been unable to capitalize on key moments, leading to disappointing results. Factors such as batting collapses, missed opportunities in the field, and challenges in adapting to different conditions have contributed to their struggles
India lost a home series to New Zealand, suffering a historic 3-0 whitewash for the first time ever. The team struggled in all departments, with inconsistent batting, ineffective bowling, and missed chances in the field. New Zealand, on the other hand, showcased disciplined cricket and capitalized on India’s mistakes, dominating throughout the series.

In the 2024-45 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian side started on a high, winning the first Test in Perth. The Kangaroos made a major comeback and won the Test matches in Adelaide and Melbourne, making the series 2-1 in their favour. These performances have sparked discussions about the team’s strategy, player selection, and preparedness for future challenges, including their chances in the World Test Championship.

After the Boxing Day Test defeat, India needs to win the Sydney Test match, or else they will be out of contention for the World Test Championship final. Apart from winning, they need to rely on Sri Lanka to defeat Australia in a 2-match Test series. If India fails to win the remaining Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia will confirm its berth to the finals.

The South African Cricket Team has qualified for the 2025 World Test Championship final in London after defeating Pakistan in the first Test by 2 wickets. The Proteas have a points percentage of 66.67%, which cannot be breached by any team.

South Africa were struggling at 99 for 8 just before lunch, leaving Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen with the task of scoring the remaining 51 runs. The duo held their nerve in a tense ninth-wicket partnership against a fired-up Pakistan bowling attack.
