IND vs AUS 3rd Test: The third test between India and Australia has reached a stage where India will be hoping that the rain should continue spoiling the final two days as well. After the forced stumps on Day 3 due to rain, India were 51/4 in 17 overs.
After Australia put on a massive score of 445 in the first innings, the Australian bowlers didn’t allow the Indian batters to settle down at any stage. The rain also played its part, and there were multiple rain breaks. It won’t be a wrong statement to say that Australia are in the driving seat, and it is only rain that is between them and a win.
The forecast for the last two days is also not good and it suggests rain. But Australian ace pacer Mitchell Starc is hopeful for the result. Starc reckons that the hosts hold an edge and they have more cards than the visitors.
IND vs AUS 3rd Test: “There is plenty in the wicket”- Mitchell Starc
India still trails by a massive 394 runs, and there are two days left to play. If it doesn’t rain, then Australia have a great chance to wrap up India’s first innings early and give themselves a chance to enforce the follow-on and go for the kill.
In an interaction after the stumps on Day 3, Starc talked about Australia’s plan. He highlighted that Australia hold more cards than India in their kitty. The pacer said, “Yeah, I mean at 4 for 50, we hold a few more cards than they do. There is plenty in the wicket; tomorrow’s going to dictate what happens. If we can take a few early ones, that obviously brings in the extra card of the follow-on.”
It was Mitchell Starc who put Australia in the driving seat, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal on the second ball of India’s innings. He came back with a wicket of Shubman Gill in his next over and gave India early blows. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took one wicket each. KL Rahul was unbeaten on 33 off 63, while the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, has not opened his account after facing six balls.
