IND vs SL: Virat Kohli on the verge of making history in the coming ODI series
Fans are delighted with the return of Virat Kohli for the Sri Lanka ODIs. The former Indian captain has tremendous stats in Colombo, and he has had a record-breaking ODI career so far. But as he steps on the field for the three ODIs, he will eye at yet another historic record.
This time he has an opportunity to surpass the legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Kumar Sangakkara. Hence, Virat has a chance to write history. Notably, Virat has currently scored 26884 runs in 588 innings in his international career and needs only 116 runs to complete 27000 international runs.
If Virat Kohli scores 116 runs in the coming three matches, he will join the above three legends in the 27000-run club. He will become the fastest batter to do so in this league. Sachin (34357), Sangakkara (28016), and Poning (27483) are ahead of him. Not just this, Virat Kohli has scored 13848 runs in ODI cricket in 280 innings.
He needs another 152 runs to complete 14000 ODI runs and become the third batter to do so after Sachin (18426) and Sangakkara (14234). Notably, he will be the fastest to do so. Hence, there are a few big records on the line, and his records in Sri Lanka suggest that Virat Kohli will achieve it for sure.
