ICC events are too big for every player in the game’s history, and captaining their sides to victory is the grandest event for a player. Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, reached new heights with two consecutive ICC trophies in two back-to-back ICC events.
The Indian skipper turned only the fourth skipper after previous legends Clive Lloyd, Ricky Ponting, and MS Dhoni, who led their team to successive title wins in the ICC events.
Previously, Clive Lloyd led West Indies to consecutive wins in the World Cup of 1975 and 1979, followed by great Ricky Ponting who led them to wins in both the 2003 and 2007 World Cups, as well as the 2006 and 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
MS Dhoni led India to win the 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy, while Rohit Sharma also led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
