Domestic Players

The IPL is a grooming ground for domestic Indian players. The league has provided world cricket with a few of the best players. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma too have set the tone for their careers in the IPL. The IPL is the platform from where every individual can grab the eyes of the national selectors. This has been the case with the selection of Venkatesh Iyer and Harshal Patel in the New Zealand T20 Series. Here is a look at 10 Indian Players who will benefit a lot due to the 10 team IPL: –

Sheldon Jackson: –

Sheldon Jackson is one player who has never got the credit that he deserves. Jackson scored 809 runs in the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season helping his team Saurashtra to win their first-ever trophy. He is in the top 5 scorers in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the 2021-2022 season. Sheldon also scored 854 runs in the Ranji Trophy in 2019. Jackson posted a cryptic tweet about his non-selection in India A tour of South Africa. Harbhajan Singh also tweeted in his favor.

Mayank Markande: –

After having a great 2018 IPL season and after playing for India in 2019, Mayank Markande has spiraled down. Mayank Markande had just become a trading product. He was sent from Mumbai Indians to the Delhi Daredevils. And without even playing for Delhi, he was sent to Rajasthan Royals. He has shown that he has what it takes to be at the biggest stage. Mayank Markande is not in a franchise that respects him and values him. Hence, a new franchise can help to take his game to new heights.

Siddharth Kaul: –

Siddharth Kaul has been in the cricketing circuit since 2008. He belongs to Virat Kohli’s U-19 team that won the World Cup in Malaysia. Siddharth Kaul is currently with the Sunrisers Hyderabad who has an overload of Indian fast bowlers. The list includes T Natarajan, Basil Thampi, Umran Malik, Khaleel Ahmed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Sandeep Sharma. Of the list mentioned only 2 get a chance to play. Siddhart is a senior bowler and can be a strike force for any other franchise.

Shreyas Gopal: –

Shreyas Gopal has to be on this list. Gopal wasn’t given more than a game in the IPL this season. He is a seasoned senior spinner. The Rajasthan Royals’ management persisted with Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag. But this hasn’t reaped any benefits. Shreyas Gopal was trouble for AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. He is a bankable bowler and an Indian leg spinner will be an asset for the new franchises.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti: –

Kamlesh Nagarkoti is trapped in a franchise that has many options. Nagarkoti currently is in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ camp. But there are options such as Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Mavi, and Sandeep Warrier. Kamlesh was one of the top bowlers from Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill’s batch and a new team will do wonders for him. He will get an opportunity to showcase his prowess with a new team. Kamlesh, if given the chances can turn out to be super quick and precise.

Karun Nair: –

Karun Nair too suffered from being in a place with multiple options. He too was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2021. Karun Nair could have been the ideal option for RCB since they lacked an Indian batsman. RCB were forced to play options such as Rajat Patidar, KS Bharat, or Shabaz Ahmed. Karun Nair could have been the option they needed. So, the two new franchises will also require an experienced Indian batsman and Karun Nair will fit the bill for them.

Navdeep Saini: –

Navdeep Saini and his shine were sidelined by the emergence of a phenomenon known as Mohammad Siraj. But Saini in his own way is an amazing bowler. Most importantly, Navdeep Saini is super quick. A quick Indian fast bowler is a rare commodity and Saini will be a hot pick in the Mega Auction. With the entry of 2 more teams, the opportunities will increase and Saini will get the games to shine.

Umesh Yadav: –

Umesh Yadav warmed the bench for the Kolkata Knight Riders the entire IPL season. Yadav could have been the strike force for Rajasthan Royals if he was there. He is an experienced campaigner and has played for 2 World Cups. Umesh Yadav brings his Indian origin, his super quick pace, and experience to the table for any of the franchises.

Ishant Sharma: –

So, Indian Jimmy Anderson also deserves a chance to play in the league, isn’t it? The case of Ishant Sharma is that he was blown out of contention by a bowler named Avesh Khan. The dynamic duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada also lowered his chance of a place in the 11. Ishant Sharma has got an age factor as well. And with increasing age, a bowler chooses the shorter format. Ishant with his experience of a lifetime and smart cricketing brain can bring everything to the table. His case is similar to that of Ashish Nehra and Shaun Tait of the past. He still has a lot of test cricket left but when his time comes Ishant will benefit due to more chances.

Ajinkya Rahane: –

Ajinkya Rahane, the vice-captain of the Indian test team has been warming the bench for 2 seasons. This is completely unfair on a legend like him. Obviously, the team management cannot drop players like Shaw and Dhawan who have been performing but it will benefit if he joins a fresher team. He can take up leadership too as he has shown great form in SMAT 2021.
