WPL 2026 Mega Auction

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Mega Auction took place at JW Marriott Hotel in Aerocity, New Delhi, on November 27, 2025. The Biggest Highlight of the WPL 2026 Mega Auction was Deepti Sharma, who became the most expensive buy at Rs. 3.2 crore by UP Warriorz.

A total of 277 players had registered for the WPL 2026 Mega Auction; however, there are only 73 slots for all five teams. Each Franchise had given a purse of Rs. 15 crore, but after retentions, UP Warriorz entered the auction with the highest purse of Rs. 14.5 crore.

Mumbai Indians bought Amelia Kerr for Rs. 3 crore despite having a purse of Rs. 5.75 crore. Amelia Kerr was the second-most expensive player in the WPL 2026 Mega Auction. However, Gujarat Giants, who had the second-highest purse of Rs. 9 crore, bought New Zealand’s star player Sophie Devine for Rs. 2 crore.

Delhi Capitals were one of the most active teams in the WPL 2026 Mega Auction, along with UP Warriorz. DC bought three big names – Shreee Charani (Rs. 1.30 crore), Chenille Henry (Rs. 1.30 crore) and Laura Wolvaardt (Rs. 1.10 crore). Despite having the South African Women’s Team skipper in the squad, DC will have a new Indian Captain for the upcoming WPL season.

UP Warriorz bought some strong players and young talents. They bought Phoebe Litchfield for Rs. 1.20 crore, and RTM used Deepti Sharma (Rs. 3.2 crore). Asha Sobhana was also bought by UPW for Rs. 1.10 crore. Both Deepti and Asha are two quality spinners, and they are going to rule the middle-overs.

​Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wasn’t quite active in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Mega Auction as they had a tight budget of Rs. 6.15 crore and wanted to use it wisely. RCB bought English pace Laura Bell for Rs. 90 lakh, which was one of the best value deals in the WPL 2026 Auction.

In the above Top 10 list of the WPL 2026 Mega Auction, there are only three Indians and interestingly all are bowlers. However, there are two Kiwi, two Aussie, one South African and one English player in the top 10 list.
