The Forgotten Stars of IPL – Where Are They Now?

The Forgotten Stars of IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has given cricket countless memories in the past, including some unforgettable performances. Many players became superstars, but some faded away despite having an immense contribution to the team. In this article, we will see the top 3 forgotten stars who once lit up the IPL stage.

This list is based on the performance in the particular season and the depth of the situation in the game. Other players might have performed better in that season, but here we are talking about the particular game that had a significant impact on the team in that season and is also remembered as one of the greatest moments in the franchise’s history.

Manvinder Bisla

Manvinder Bisla became the hero for the KKR fans after his explosive inning in the IPL 2012 Final for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He played a superb knock of 89 runs in just 48 balls against the strong bowling unit of Chennai Super Kings and helped KKR to register their maiden title.

Unfortunately, his IPL career never shone after such a heroic inning; later, he was also part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians. He retired from professional cricket in 2019.

Corey Anderson

New Zealand’s Corey Anderson made headlines in the IPL 2024 when he played one of the best innings of T20 cricket. It was the last group stage match, and the Mumbai Indians needed to win the match against the Rajasthan Royals, but the catch was within 14.4 overs to maintain the net run rate.

Corey Anderson played a majestic knock of 95 runs in 44 balls at a strike rate of 215.91 and led the Mumbai Indians to the playoffs after hitting six on the 4th ball of the 14th over. But, frequent injuries and inconsistent performances led him to lead international cricket at an early stage.

Paul Valthaty

Paul Valthaty was the Chris Gayle or AB de Villiers of that IPL time. In IPL 2011, Paul was opening for Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) and smashed a stunning 120* against the Chennai Super Kings. This slowly became one of the most iconic knocks in the early IPL history.

However, injuries and inconsistent form ended his IPL journey, but now, he is involved in coaching young cricketers in Mumbai and works with local academies to help young talents.
