TATA IPL 2024: A Massive Record by Rohit Sharma becomes the first Asian batter to achieve this feat. Mumbai Indians (MI) former skipper Rohit Sharma registered a massive record in T20 Cricket as he became the first Indian Batter to score 500 sixes. Rohit Sharma played an exceptional inning of runs in match no. 29 of TATA IPL 2024 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma is in impressive form this year as he already made runs in the matches played so far in the TATA IPL 2024 itself. After getting sacked from captaincy, Rohit Sharma is playing good cricket in TATA IPL 2024 however, in the last few seasons he hasn’t played well. But, this season, Rohit is in a different mindset and it is not going to help him but also MI to qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs.
Rohit Sharma completes his 500th six in T20 cricket in the second over of the 11th over of the second inning during the MI vs CSK match in the TATA IPL 2024. Rohit Sharma is the highest six hitter in the T20I as he knocked 190 sixes so far whereas Chris Gayle scored 1056 sixes in T20 cricket.
IPL 2024 MI vs CSK Match Summary:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batted first but this time, Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra came to open but Rahane got out by scoring just 5 runs. Later on, Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra gave decent starts but they were able to score 48 runs in the batting powerplay of the first inning.
Rachin Ravindra also got out by scoring 21 runs in 16 balls but youngster Shivam Dube and Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad made a massive 90-run partnership for the third wicket in Wankhede. Both batters shifted the game’s momentum towards their team and led CSK to 132 runs in 14 overs.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad played an impressive inning of 69 runs in 40 balls with five fours and sixes each. After Gaikwad got out, CSK solved their game and dominant bowlers started dominating but then MS Dhoni came to bat in the last over and he knocked 20 runs in just 4 balls.
Shivam Dube stood till last and led CSK to a massive 206 runs on the scoreboard, however, he scored 66 runs in 38 balls. From the MI bowling department, Skipper Hardik Pandya took two wickets whereas Shreyas Gopal and Gerald Coetzee took one wicket each.
In the second Inning, Mumbai Indians had quite an aggressive start as they made 63 runs in the first six overs of this inning. Ishan Kisan got out by scoring 23 runs in 15 balls whereas Rohit Sharma was playing good cricket and kept hitting boundaries from one side.
However, Rohit Sharma scored his second century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but he was able to lead his team to victory. Rohit scored 105 runs in 63 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes whereas other batters failed to play big innings, especially the middle-order batters.
From the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling department, Matheesha Pathirana took four wickets whereas Mushtafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande took one wicket each in this match.
