West Indies vs New Zealand Match Summary:

After losing the toss, West Indies batted first and they had a very bad start as West Indies lost a couple of wickets in the powerplay itself. Among the top 5 batters, Nicholas Pooran was the only batter who scored double digits however he made 17 runs in 12 balls. But, the lower-order batters have contributed a lot which led West Indies to have a decent total of 149 runs on the scoreboard.

Sherfane Rutherford played a crucial and responsible inning of 68 runs in 39 balls whereas Akeal Hossein and Andre Russell made 15 and 14 runs, respectively. From the New Zealand bowling unit, Trent Boult took three wickets whereas Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson got two wickets each.

In the second inning, New Zealand too failed to have a good start as their key batters like Devon Conway, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra got out early. Finn Allen played a decent inning of 26 runs in 23 balls however, he could have played a big inning but got out by playing a wrong shot.

Later on, Glenn Philips and Mitchell Santner made a crucial partnership and tried their best to chase the target but they failed to do so. Glenn Philips scored 40 (33) whereas Mitchell Santner made 21 (12) and in the end, West Indies won the game by 13 runs. Caribbean bowler Alzarri Joseph took four wickets whereas Gudakesh Motie got three wickets.
