The Royal Challengers Bangalore, RCB, are widely known for their immense fanbase in the Indian Premier League history, and they have set an entirely new squad for the IPL 2025 season.

For a huge sum of INR 83 crores, which was spent by RCB in the mega auction, their team unit seemed very inefficient, picking not the finest of players in the bunch. RCB remained significantly silent on Day 1, while their Day 2 went bad due to the misuse of their RTM options.

RCB retained their only player, Virat Kohli, for a huge INR 21 crore; however, let’s make an in-depth analysis of the RCB squad formed after the mega auction in 2024.

RCB Full Squad after IPL 2025:

Batters: Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Swastik Chhikara, and Tim David

Wicketkeepers: Phil Salt and Jitesh Sharma

All-Rounders: Liam Livingstone, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Swapnil Singh, Jacob Bethell, and Manoj Bhandage.

Bowlers: Josh Hazelwood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma, Rasikh Dar, Lungi Ngidi, Nuwan Thushara, Mohit Rathee, and Avinandan Singh.

SWOT Analysis of the RCB Squad:

Strengths:

Like always, RCB’s biggest strength lies in their experienced and veteran batters. The team is known widely to have offered batters like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB de Villiers to the world of cricket and now has a refined set of fine emerging talents in the batting department.

Their strength also lies in their quality pacers, as they have likes of Bhuvi and Hazelwood among bowlers with grey beards, while likes of Yash Dayal and Rasikh Dar are the most promising seam options for RCB.

Weakness:

RCB’s biggest weakness seems to be much in the limelight, as they largely lack spinners as well as all-rounders. Spinners like Krunal Pandya and Livingstone might not seem to be sufficient spin options for the side, likely in a home track like Chinnaswamy.

Opportunities:

RCB has always been one of the most highly exciting teams, where every youngster dreams of starting his career. This is due to the opportunity to play alongside legendary player Virat Kohli, which every youngster dreams of.

Likely this year as well, young players like Rasikh Dar and English youngster Jacob Bethell, who makes his IPL debut for the Challengers, might benefit from sharing the dressing room and taking to the field alongside the great batter.

Threats:

To the RCB team, their biggest threat would be their lack of all-rounders, as they do not seem well equipped with men who can handle both bat and ball equally efficiently. While their spin department would be their weakest exposed limb. They would also lack their backup options.
