Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is among the much-anticipated international assignments coming at the end of this year. This will be a blockbuster series between the top two Test teams in the world at the moment.

This edition will be held in Australia, and to make it more grand, both teams will now play five test matches. India have won the last two BGT series down under, while Australia have yet to win this trophy in the last ten years.

That’s how India have dominated the Men in Yellow in whites at home and away both. But Australia beat India in the final of the World Test Championship 2021–23 to win the title. So, who will be emerging as champions in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25?

With a couple of months to go for the coming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, many former cricketers have come up with their prediction. And now Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has also shared his views. The former Indian captain has made a bold prediction and backed India win the BGT series for the third time in Australia and keep their position maintained at the top of the WTC table 2023-25.

He predicted India to win by a 3-1 margin. He wrote in his column for mid-day, “It’s going to be an exciting series for sure with the talent that is there on both sides, and it will also show why Test match cricket is the ultimate format of our beloved game. Oh, and my prediction is a 3-1 win for India.”

He also elaborated that since David Warner has retired, Australia have a question of finding out the right opening combination. Gavaskar also said that India have a couple of practice matches before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which will help them to adjust themselves as per the conditions as they are a slow starter.

This will be a big challenge for Rohit Sharma as captain. He won the home BGT series, but the real test will be down under. India are currently at the top of the World Test Championship table. And the winner of this series is more likely to make it to the WTC final. This series will be played between November 22, 2004 and January 7, 2025.
