Nitish Kumar Reddy’s father, Mutyala Reddy, has been in the headlines following the maiden Test century of NKR. He was seen supporting his son from the stand and constantly praying for his century. Mutyala was seen in tears after Nitish smashed the ball for a six and completed his Test hundred.
Mutyala Reddy was a former employee of Hindustan Zinc, a leading mining company in India known for producing zinc, lead, and silver. Hindustan Zinc is a part of the Vedanta Group and operates several mines and smelting units across the country. He took Nitish Kumar to the Hindustan Zinc ground to witness the senior cricket matches.
Nitish Kumar’s father made the difficult decision to give up his job after being transferred to Udaipur, choosing instead to focus on supporting his son’s cricketing aspirations. However, the family faced numerous financial challenges, making it even more difficult for Nitish to pursue his passion. Despite the hardships, his determination and his father’s unwavering support became the driving force behind his journey in cricket.
Mutyala Reddy retired from his career to dedicate himself to supporting his child’s training, providing all the necessary facilities he could despite facing financial challenges.
The young cricketer treats his father as a hero for the immense sacrifices he made to support his dreams. From giving up his job to providing unwavering encouragement during tough times, his father’s selflessness and dedication have been a source of inspiration, motivating him to work harder and achieve success in cricket.
In an interview, Nitish Kumar Reddy revealed, “To be honest I was not that serious about cricket, my father left his job for me, and there have been a lot of sacrifices behind my story. One day I saw him crying because of financial problems and I was like this is not how I play, my father was making sacrifices and I was playing cricket for fun.”
He added, “At that time, I became serious and I got the growth. I worked hard and it paid off. As a son from a middle-class family, I am so proud that my father is happy now. I gave my first jersey to him and saw the happiness on his face.”
