PAK vs BAN: After the first day went all washed out by rain, Pakistan batted an entire Day 2 but could only post 274. The Pakistan top order this time added some valuable runs as Saim Ayub and skipper Masood added to the team’s scoreboard with vital 50s.
It was then that the Bangladesh lead pacer, Taskin Ahmed, who replaced Shoriful Islam in the side, struck, followed by successive wickets for Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Once again, the Pakistani veteran, Babar Azam, failed in the middle order, as a result of which the team total again collapsed, this time with Shakeel and Rizwan both underperforming.
However, it was Salman Ali Agha who rescued them with a half-century, as a result of which Pakistan could post a 274-run total in their first inning.
Bangladesh struggled early on Day 2, as Pakistani pacers Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad saw through the Bangladesh batting order. Even the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al-Hasan fell to Shahzad’s great bowling antics.
However, then began a surge of excellent cricket as Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who came into bat at no. 7 and no. 8, took their team total forward. Both the batters came into bat when they were 26/6, while they led from the front in a 150+ run partnership that rescued Bangladesh from a grieving situation.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who had struck 5 wickets in the first innings, went on to score a dominant 78 with the bat before he was caught and bowled by Khurram Shahzad. However, still, Litton Das kept his end firm and batted alongside Hasan Mahmud for a 50+ run partnership that led Bangladesh to 262, which left them trailing by just 12 runs, far better a position from their early scare.
Litton batted stunningly, as he went on to score a brilliant hundred of 138 runs, scoring his last 50 runs alongside a no. 10, which adds to the greatness of the innings. Litton finally got out to Salman Ali Agha, marking an end to yet another historic inning the Rawalpindi stadium witnessed.
The Pakistan team came into bat for 3.4 overs in their 2nd innings, as Hasan Mahmud, the pacer, struck twice against opener Shafique and skipper Masood, as Pakistan ended their day with a score of 9/2.
