ODI Rankings: Afghan all-rounder Nabi overtakes Shakib to take top spot in ICC men’s ODI Rankings: With a stunning century in the opening ODI against Sri Lanka in Pallekele, Afghanistan’s premier all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has ended Shakib Al Hasan’s long reign as the top all-rounder in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings.
Nabi, the top all-rounder in T20Is, rose to the top of the ODI standings after becoming the oldest player, at 39, to top the ICC ODI all-rounders rankings with a knock of 136 and another month after that. Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka, who attained the top spot in June 2015 at the age of 38 years and 8 months, held the previous record.
The other Afghan players to lead the ICC rankings are Mujeeb ur Rahman (T20I bowling) and Rashid Khan (ODI all-rounder, T20I bowling, and ODI bowling).
Shakib remained at the top for 1,739 days (from May 7, 2019), which is the longest streak by anyone at the top of the ODI rankings. His total reign is recorded to have been 4,276 days, which is equivalent to more than 11 and a half years. Kapil Dev is in second place with 3,816 days which includes two stints of 1,376 and 1,375 days.
The first two ODIs of the series, both won by Sri Lanka, also saw some other notable performances from both sides. After playing an unbeaten inning of 149 runs in the first ODI, Azmatullah Omarzai is the second Afghanistan player to move up 19 places to 57th position, while several Sri Lankan players have moved up in the rankings.
Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka has moved up five places to a career-best 15th position after scoring an unbeaten 97 in the second ODI. Pathum Nissanka has moved up 10 places to 18th after surpassing Omarzai and Nabi in the first ODI. Sadira Samarawickrama has moved up from 47th. Ranked 41st after useful innings of 45 and 52.
Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has jumped 14 places to 26th after taking four wickets for 27 runs, while left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madhushanka has moved up from 37th to 33rd.

Nepal’s players also made some notable improvements in their rankings after defeating Canada 3-0 in the home series ahead of the inaugural ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, which begins a tri-series with Namibia, Netherlands and hosts Nepal in Kirtipur on Thursday will start. ,
Captain Rohit Paudel has moved up three places to 77th position after scoring 87 runs in the second match, Kushal Bhurtel has moved up eight places to 88th position with his innings of 62 runs in the same match and left-arm spinner Lalit Rajbanshi has moved up 14 places to 79th position. For the West Indies, Johnson Charles moved up from 50th to 38th, while Sherfane Rutherford and Andrew Russell also moved up after leading their team to consolation wins in the final match. Rutherford is up 11 places to 61st after scoring 67 not out and Russell is up 54 places to 111th after scoring 71 runs.
South Africa’s David Bedingham has climbed 30 places to 79th in the batting rankings after scoring 32 and 87 in the first Test against New Zealand in Tauranga, which the home side won by 281 runs. Rachin Ravindra is one place behind him at 80th position.
In the bowling rankings, New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has moved up six places to eighth after taking six wickets in the match, while Matt Henry has moved up five places to 26th.
