“We need guys, who are talented enough to get the hundred” says Lyon as he picks Steve Smith and Travis Head among such players who can score big time for Australia in the BGT.
The Aussies are often seen indulging in multi-format cricket, as they will resume their red-ball action against India with the much anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will kick start on the 22nd of November at the iconic Perth Stadium.
However, Aussies have been in trouble with their unsuccessful campaign in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2014-15 which was their last successful season with a 4-1 victory in the island nation.
Earlier the legendary Australian spinner, Nathan Lyon claimed that he is looking forward to bowl against Indian legendary players like Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, who are often very explosive against spinners. Lyon would be the one who is excited to take on this challenge.
He also disagreed with the frequent speculation that Test cricket is losing its charm as players have lost their temperament as they feature more in T20 cricket. However, England’s success under Baz too proves this statement wrong.
“Having Virat out here, Rishabh Pant has been picked for the Tests against Bangladesh, so that’s an amazing story. It’s going to be pretty big,” Lyon said.
Naming the likes of legendary players like Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head the inform explosive batter and the veteran Steven Smith, Lyon claimed his expectations from his team’s batters, as he said if they score big runs with the bat, around 150-200, then a day off can help him perform well with the bowl.
“We need big runs. We need the guys, who are talented enough to get the hundred, The likes of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Travis Head, all the top order. I don’t want 101 or 107, I want 180 and 200,” said Lyon to Women’s skipper Healy in a podcast show.
