The MI VS CSK game had just started, and the TATA IPL 2023 has given us another injury. This time it is the very fragile Deepak Chahar who is injured. Deepak injured his foot while bowling the first over in the MI VS CSK game. He left the field limping in pain after completing that over.
The signs of pain occurred on the 5th ball when Deepak Chahar called for the physio. This is not the first injury of the tournament. Kane Williamson, Reece Topley, Jofra Archer, and Rajat Patidar were all injured while playing. Here is an in-depth look at what exactly happened:

Deepak Chahar left the field in pain after bowling the first over in the MI VS CSK game, the El Classico of the TATA IPL 2023. The Chennai Super Kings bought Subranshu Senapati in his place on the field. This was an injury substitution which is not supposed to be confused with the “Impact Player” substitution. Subranshu has been bought on for fielding in place of Chahar like a general “injury substitution”. Rohit Sharma took full advantage of an injured Deepak Chahar bowling the sixth bowl of the first over as he hit a cracking lofted cover drive.

Here is how the first over went through:
- 1st ball: Chahar to Rohit, no run. Rohit hit the ball to mid-wicket. No signs of swing.
- 2nd ball: Chahar to Rohit, no run. Well left outside off by Rohit.
- 3rd ball: Chahar to Rohit, 4. A lofted extra cover drive.
- 4th ball: Chahar to Rohit, 1 run to deep square leg.
- 5th ball: Chahar to Ishan Kishan, 2 runs to deep backward square leg. No ball.
- 5th (Again) ball: Chahar to Ishan Kishan, Chahar drops awkwardly on his left foot and is seen in pain. Ishan Kishan gets one run. Chahar immediately calls for the physio.
- 6th ball: Chahar while limping bowls to Rohit, who hits it over the covers for a boundary.
