IND vs AUS: The Boxing Day test between India and Australia at the MCG has intensified, as the players have kept the stump mic busy with their intriguing verses in between overs.
The intriguing feature that caught the attention of all was the heated confrontation between young Aussie debutant Sam Konstas and Indian veteran Virat Kohli after the latter rammed his shoulder into the former in an attempt to intimidate him.
However, other than the action that took everyone’s attention, several silent confrontations kept taking place. Siraj and Labuschagne have constantly been involved in combats throughout his BGT, and so did they at Melbourne.
When Siraj was seen smiling at Labuschagne, Kohli quickly cautioned him, saying, “Has ke baat nehi karna inse,” which was caught in the stump mic.
Rohit Sharma was also heard mentioning Jadeja to get the sudden bounce and also the spin on the track of Melbourne.
However, ever since the altercation between Konstas and Kohli, the next incident that caught everyone’s attention was the Indian skipper’s angered reaction to fellow youngster Jaiswal.
Jaiswal, who leapt prematurely to one of the defensive shots played by Smith to Jadeja, was snuffed at by the skipper when the stump mic heard him say, “Arre Jaisu, gully cricket khel raha hai kya?”
Australia dominated on Day 1 as every batter gets to a fifty among the top 4; However, India comeback with 4 wickets in quick succession
Australia opted for the young and dynamic batter Sam Konstas as a replacement for Nathan McSweeney, and it seemed to go in favour of the Aussies, as the young man gave it back to the Indian bowlers, as Bumrah was hit for runs as well.
Konstas brought the spirit of limited-overs cricket to red-ball cricket, as even Usman Khawaja and then eventually Marnus Labuschagne scored respective half-centuries to give Australia the upper hand on Day 1.
Centurion from Gabba, Steven Smith looked comfortable from the very first delivery he stepped onto the MCG, as he seems to be nearing his 50 as well in no time ever since he stepped onto the ground alongside Labuschagne.
Washington Sundar immediately dismissed Labuschagne after drinks for 72; India has never looked back since then, as Travis Head went for a duck dismissed by Bumrah followed by Marsh for just 4 runs. Though Alex Carey built a good 57-run partnership alongside Steve Smith, the second new ball pays off as Akash Deep draws the 6th blood for India.
