Lord's Cricket Ground

The Lord’s cricket ground is known as the home of cricket because it was the first-ever cricket stadium built to host cricket matches in the world. It has hosted many historic games in the past, and now it is time to host yet another historic game of cricket.

It has been hosting cricket matches for more than a century, but so far, this venue hasn’t hosted a test match in women’s cricket. But now, the England and Wales Cricket Board has come up with the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s.

This iconic venue will host its first women’s Test in 2026, which will be played between India‘s women and England’s women, as told by the ECB. The English board confirmed it in a statement on Thursday (August 22).

The ECB announced the schedule of the men’s and women’s teams for the coming summer season, which included series for India’s men’s and women’s next year. It also included a one-off historic test at Lord’s. The schedule included a five-match series between men’s teams.

On the other hand, the two women will face each other in five T20Is and three ODIs in 2025. Meanwhile, the ECB also confirmed the one-off test between two teams in 2026. This will be the first ever Test to take place at Lord’s in women’s cricket.

The ECB said in a press release, “It has also been confirmed that India Women will return in 2026 for a one-off Test match at Lord’s – the first-ever Women’s Test to be staged at the Home of Cricket. It will be the first time the ground has hosted a Women’s Test match.”

India‘s women’s team will play a five-match T20I series, starting on June 28 in Nottingham, and the final game will take place on July 12 at Brimingham. After this, these two teams will face each other in three ODIs on July 16, 19, and 22, respectively.

India women and England women have played 15 Tests so far. India are marginally ahead with three wins as compared to one win for England, whereas the 11 matches have ended in a tie.
