South Africa is currently on a tour to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series, which is an eminent part of their WTC journey, as Kagiso Rabada makes history at Dhaka. Once known to be the finest of Test sides, South Africa has not made it to any WTC final as of yet.

South Africa has produced many legendary pace bowlers in the history of the game, with the likes of Shaun Pollock, Sir Allan Donald, Morne Morkel, and Dale Steyn. When it comes to modern-day games, Kagiso Rabada often emerges as the finest pacer in the Protea team.

The 29-year-old pace sensation achieved a major milestone in the history of the game as Rabada went on to pick the wicket of Bangladesh veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, which was Rabada’s 300th Test wicket. He has 529 wickets as of now in international cricket aged just 29.

Rabada with this wicket turned the fastest to 300 Test wickets in terms of balls bowled in red-ball cricket. Kagiso went on to pick another wicket following the first breakthrough, as after Mushfiqur he next sent Litton back to the pavilion.

Does South Africa stand a chance to qualify for their first-ever WTC final?

South Africa has undoubtedly been said to be one of the greatest test sides, as during the days of Graeme Smith, when Hashim Amla, Kallis, ABD, as well as Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn starred for the African giants, they seemed an inevitable team in the longest format of the game.

However, their track record has not been this decorated in recent times, as they still remain in the quest for the first WTC final. This time around as well, they remain to be in a very tough spot for their qualification.

The qualification chances seem scant for the Proteas, as they have only 6 of their remaining matches left. South Africa have now won only 2 of their 6 matches and are currently sixth on the points table. They cannot bear even a single loss in the WTC to fancy their chances for qualification; even a likely result of four wins out of the next six games knocks them off the race to the WTC finals.
