The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have one of the finest records in the history of the IPL, especially when in recent times top competitors like the Mumbai Indians have underperformed to a huge extent, and the CSK side has retained their high esteem.
CSK’s leadership has passed from the veteran hands of MS Dhoni to the young and dynamic Ruturaj Gaikwad, a player CSK seeks for long runs owing to his stunning resilience with the bat for them.
After having retained most of the quality players in their squad, CSK went into the auctions, being active on both Day 1 and Day 2, as they acquired a quality set of players they needed to build their core team.
CSK also went back to most of the players who they released, as they made fair deals acquiring the capped players for a very small amount of money spent from their purses. While Ashwin the master spinner returns to Chepauk, young Noor Ahmed will be a player to watch out for the Men in Yellow.

SWOT analysis of CSK:
Strengths:
CSK’s biggest strength over the years has been their knack for highly experienced players and their faith in their rising superstars. Often criticized for having only senior yet old cricketers on their side, CSK have often performed with such squads.
With the likes of Devon Conway retained back into the side, Rahul Tripathi brought in by the Chennai side, and players like Vijay Shankar and Ravi Ashwin, CSK has once again valued experience in the auction.
CSK’s spin remains the most confident side, with spinners like Ashwin, Jadeja, Noor Ahmed, and also Rachin Ravindra on the side.
Weakness:
CSK’s weakness lies also in their strength, as their veteran cricketers cannot be futuristic players for the long run. Also, CSK’s pace bowling unit looks relatively more inexperienced than before, with Khaleel, Nagarkoti, Pathirana, and Kamboj being the top picks to play in the role. The unit might fall apart in front of the big hitters of other teams.
Opportunities:
Youngsters always have the best opportunity, as CSK now also has an academy to train deprived cricketers, with the likes of Pathirana being their lead pacer. He has the chance to introduce his value in the format to the world.
This season would also be the chance for Ruturaj Gaikwad to perform well to make way for himself on the Indian side. While Anshul Kamboj also has his first major outing in the IPL.
Threats:
Despite having all CSK players, they do not have enough backups for their batters as well as all-rounders like Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja. Hence, it is evident that they are not ready to bear any injury for their marquee forefront players.
