One of India’s most recognized media reporters, Express Sports, has reportedly claimed that the Mumbai Indians are all set to not part ways with the veteran skipper Rohit Sharma.

Previous speculations sparked which claimed the World Cup-winning Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to leave the likes of Mumbai Indians and come to the auction for the first time since 2011. This created a huge buzz for the highly anticipated IPL mega-auction.

However, now the MI veteran who has not only been an exemplary skipper but also a standout contributor with the bat is likely to be retained. Alongside the skipper, the MI team is also likely to retain three other World Cup winners on their side.

The IPL committee has announced that despite different retention labs fixed for retention, they can distribute the amount of 75 crores among their 5 players who can be likely retained.

The Mumbai Indians already have the likes of the world’s finest explosive T20 opener, current Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, one of the most dynamic talents in T20 format, crowned best all-rounder in the T20 format, Hardik Pandya, and pace bowling sensation, arguably the best in the world, Jasprit Bumrah.

The Mumbai Indians are well aware of the high value and demand of these players and are hence looking to retain the likes of all these 4 players. This seems amazing as they have a power-packed team despite not retaining any overseas players.

Likely, assuming Mumbai Indians would look to retain the likes of skipper Pandya for a whopping 18 crores, while also Suryakumar Yadav with a similar INR 18 crores and 14 crores each for Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, currently seems the most likely order of retention slabs.

However, Mumbai Indians are likely to part ways with Ishan Kishan, their star wk-bat who was bought at a whopping price back in the last mega-auction of 2022. However, the likes of Tilak Varma might be brought back into the side using the Right to Match card for the Mumbai Indians.

He might not be retained due to him not being an uncapped player any further, and hence he might be surpassing the likes of low-budget retention slabs.
