The English all-rounder who made his first IPL contract with RCB in the very same year when he made his debut across all formats of international cricket, Jacob Bethell, has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to an injury he faced during the ODI series against England.
After being left out of the marquee ICC event, the spin-bowling all-rounder is doubtful for the IPL as well and hence would be deprived of the privilege to make his IPL debut this season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

RCB will look to acquire one of these players as a replacement for Jacob Bethell:
1. Dewald Brevis

The talented South African superstar has been a unique star in the format, especially with the commanding show and consistency he showed in the SA20 for MI Cape Town. The champions of the SA20 2025 lifted the trophy, with Brevis scoring vital runs, especially when he batted down the order.
Brevis, who failed to be promising up the order, was a great batter down the order and can be an asset to the RCB middle order.
2. Matthew Short

The Australian all-rounder has been promising in the top order, as he has been great as an opener. Short has had several stunning seasons in the BBL and was very effective when he played his stunning games for the Punjab Kings.
Short can come in very handy with the ball, as Bethell seemed a handy spinner, and so does Short, who picked several wickets whenever he was handed the ball.
3. Jonny Bairstow
England veteran batsman Bairstow has had great IPL seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad as well as Punjab Kings. Bairstow went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, as he played a valuable role in the SA20 as well.
Now, with Bethell doubtful for the series, Bairstow will be a vital inclusion in the team, as his experience will be crucial for RCB in the middle order as he can score valuable runs alongside the newly appointed skipper Patidar.
