PBKS vs GT Highlights: A true captain, a true leader, remember the name Shreyas Iyer. A match that troubled the nerves of every cricket fan as both teams played exciting cricket with batters often neglecting the boundary lines.
A very high-scoring encounter as Punjab Kings, the new franchise with the most highly anticipated players in IPL 2025 took on Gujarat Titans, a team that values class over fame. With the match always on with players hitting the ball over the long boundaries, Punjab Kings finally had the last laugh with an 11-run win.
After a proactive first innings where the GT bowlers even the likes of great Rashid Khan faced some serious thrashing, the match seemed one-sided in favour of the Punjab Kings. However, promising GT top-order kept them in the game, as everything seemed possible until Buttler was on the crease.
With 27 runs still left in the final over, the game seemed out of hope for Titans fans, as the PBKS bowlers did a fairly good job towards the back end, especially the impact sub-Vijaykumar Vyshak who mounted pressure on the GT batters with his economical spell.

PBKS vs GT Highlights: Punjab Kings roar with the bat in the first innings

The match began with the Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill winning the toss and opting to bowl on their home ground, as Ahmedabad’s batting track is one of the best grounds in India to chase.
Known for their tactical genius and especially for their bowling, the Titans have reshaped their bowling unit with Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna, alongside the two spinners retained from the previous bowling deck.
The Punjab Kings who have reformed their squad made the best of starts with credits to their fine scouted player Priyansh Arya who came to the limelight for hitting 6 consecutive sixes in the last Delhi Premier League. Punjab Kings made the best use of the powerplay, with 85 runs scored in the 7 overs, after which skipper Iyer gave it back to the GT bowlers despite wickets falling on the other end.
Sai Kishore pulled the match in the favour of his team with two back-to-back wickets, while Shreyas Iyer led from the front scoring 97* as he missed his hundred by a very unfair margin. Sashank Singh’s 44-run finishing of the innings was a cherry on the top for the Punjab Kings as they scored 90 runs in their last 5 overs, finishing 243 in their 20 overs.
PBKS vs GT Highlights: Gujarat Titans failed after a fighting chase
The GT batters, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudashan came into bat as the skipper announced in some style as to why this stadium is often known as Shubman Gill’s most favourite ground among all tracks in the world.
Gill gave the momentum the GT innings needed in the powerplay, though he could not extend his quickfire innings past the powerplay as he fell to Shreyas Iyer’s smart move of bringing in an experienced campaigner Glenn Maxwell who dismissed the GT skipper in the last over of the powerplay.
However, since Gill got out Sudarshan who seemed a silent supporter till then smashed some stunning hits out of the park, Sudarshan turned the game alongside GT’s new no.3 Jos Buttler. Till these two were there on the track even the win predictor seemed confused, but Arshdeep Singh once again showed why he is India’s best in the shortest format of the game, as he gave PBKS the much-needed breakthrough with the wicket of a set Sudarshan.
Buttler and the impact sub-Sherfane Rutherford did have some commanding presence on the field with some gigantic hits, however, despite all efforts and a great spell from PBKS’s surprising sub-Vijaykumar Vyshak, PBKS eventually won the match by a seemingly small yet satisfying margin of 11-runs.
