Indian legendary batter and former captain Virat Kohli is set to reprise his role as RCB captain in IPL 2025. Three years after resigning as a captain, King Kohli is reportedly ready to make a dramatic return as the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He stepped down from the role ahead of the 2022 IPL and was succeeded by South African batter Faf Du Plessis.

Virat Kohli has been part of the Bengaluru franchise since 2008 and has led the team to three-finals. There has been a report that states he will be leading the side again in order to fulfill his goal of winning the IPL title as a captain.

According to the reports, it is also suggested that the franchise wanted to acquire the services of Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill and was likely to bid for Indian wicketkeepers KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant following their release from their current franchise.

Virat Kohli is the leading run scorer in the league with 8004 runs from 252 matches at a strike rate of 131.97. The talented batter has eight centuries and 55 fifties to his name. Last year, the batter spoke to the media, talking about offers and approaches by other IPL franchises.

Some reports after the talk sessions with KKR title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer have claimed that KKR is supposed to part ways with the former skipper and will be in the hunt for a new one in the upcoming mega-auction.

The Indian batter was a part of the franchise for the last 3 seasons. He has accumulated 3,127 runs with an average of 32.24 and a strike rate of 127.48.

According to various reports, Iyer is asking for a high fee from the franchise after becoming the IPL-winning captain last season. He also has offers from various other IPL franchises that are looking for an experienced and successful captain.
