Lucknow Super Giants beat CSK by 6 wickets. Do a Record 211 Run Chase:
The game played on Thursday evening was between the two “Super” teams of the IPL. The new team from Lucknow, the Lucknow Super Giants took on the Chennai Super Kings The toss was won by KL Rahul. As expected and considering the dew that comes, KL Rahul opted to bowl first. Ruturaj Gaikwad walked alongside Robin Uthappa to open.
The fact of the matter was the CSK had fielded only 3 Indian players. The CSK innings started on a hard note. Robin Uthappa was looking like the Vintage Uthappa we all know. He even danced down the track to play his signature “slap shot.” But before much damage could happen, Ruturaj Gaikwad was out in a very silly way. Rutu was wandering outside of the crease after playing the ball to a short point. Ravi Bishnoi threw the ball at the stumps and Rutu had to go back. In walked Moeen Ali. Moeen held the inning together as Uthappa attacked. Moeen fell at 84-2. Then the onus was on Shivam Dube. Dube played a very impressive knock of 45+ runs in 25+ balls. When Shivam went back, CSK were at 179 of 18 overs. MSD and Jadeja finished the innings very well. MSD slapped the first ball of his innings for a six. The next one is for a 4! CSK ended with 210/7.
LSG started batting confidently. They knew that they had to bat deep. KL and QDK started on a positive note. They were helped by some poor bowling from the CSK pacers. In the powerplay, LSG stacked up 55 runs. At the 9th over mark, LSG had reached 95 already. KL Rahul was looking flawless and so was QDK. Both the experienced batters gave the team a good start. Dwaine Pretorius then had to pull the game back for CSK. He dismissed both the openers.
The score read 106-2. However, Ewin Lewis was in the mood of something amazing. Deepak Hooda walked in and gave the LSG team a few lusty hits. After his dismissal, Ayush Badoni walked in. Badoni very smartly gave the strike to Ewin Lewis. Ewin smashed the hell out of the inexperienced pacers. His off-side game was elite. Ewin got the fifty in 23 balls. He won LSG the game with 6 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare.
