Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who had been struggling with injury since the 2023 ODI World Cup, finally returned to competitive cricket expecting to be back before the IPL. He played a Ranji Trophy fixture between Bengal and Madhya Pradesh after an injury-led absence for 360 days. The IPL auction is on the cards, and fans are relentlessly excited for the event.
Mohammad Shami hasn’t been retained by his former franchise, the Gujarat Titans, and is part of the auction beginning on November 24. The seamer has set his base price to be Rs. 2 crore for acquiring his services. Previously, he was a part of the Gujarat-based franchise for a whopping amount of Rs. 6.25 crore.
In a recent show, Sanjay Manjrekar made a prediction about Mohammed Shami’s potential price at the IPL auction. His analysis gave a drop in the price tag for the Indian seamer due to his frequent injury concerns.
Sanjay stated, “There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history and this recent one took a significant amount of time to recover, there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season.”
“If a franchise invests heavily and then loses him mid-season, their options become limited. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag,” he added
To this statement, Shami responded angrily, criticizing Manjrekar for his remarks and questioning the basis of his prediction. He expressed his disappointment, suggesting that such comments undermined his contributions and performance as a seasoned player.
“Baba ki jay hoooooo. Thodsa gyan apne future k lie bhi bacha loo kaam aayega Sanjay G? Kisi ko future janna ho to sir se mile.”
