IPL: Claims made on Mayank Yadav despite being ruled out of the Duleep Trophy

Mayank Yadav, last season’s recognised unique talent from Lucknow Super Giants, and coach Jonty Rhodes called Mayank the “Rolls Royce” of the IPL franchise. The bowler gained eminence in the competition with his raw pace and his ruthless seam.

His average pace seemed to be over 145+ kmph and he bowled targeting bouncers which caused a major upset. One of the most fiery spells in the history of the IPL, Mayank Yadav’s spell against the Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Cameron Green will be remembered for long in the history of the game.

He suffered an injury against Gujarat Titans at the LSG home stadium of Ekana, as he walked off the field with his side strain and since then he has been ruled out. The pacer since then has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, as he has been overlooked even for the Duleep Trophy.

Rhodes mentioned that he is not the bowling coach, but he remembers Morne Morkel using the same words as ‘Rolls Royce’, which the Proteas used to describe the legendary pacer Sir Alan Donald.

The pacer has been largely lauded not only for his pace but also his consistency in his line and lengths and his ability to bowl stunning bouncers. Even the likes of bowlers like Umran Malik, and Varun Aaron who have previously bowled with intense pace, did not have the level of accuracy that this young Delhi Sonnet Club prospect produces.

He has been ruled out due to his injured status, as he has missed out the entire Ranji season with the injury that he sustained in the IPL. He might be one of the big guns in the IPL mega-auction if his potential is relieved from his often injured status.

Rhodes also indicated that he might not be playing for LSG further, as he said that he wants the Indian speedster to just go out and bowl his best even if its not for the Lucknow franchise, but for someone out there.
