The Sunrisers Hyderabad included their star opening duo, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, who recently recovered from a COVID scare. Abhishek Sharma, who has shown some form recently, started off the SRH innings well, as he smashed a good-looking 34 until dismissed by Hazlewood’s replacement for RCB, Lungi Ngidi.

SRH’s biggest and one of the most anticipated players of the season, Ishan Kishan, rose to the occasion, having scored his second half-century this season after a gap of almost 10 innings since he scored his maiden century in the first match of IPL 2025.

Kishan missed his second hundred this season by a whisker, having scored an unbeaten 94*. Klaasen, Aniket Verma and skipper Cummins added to the team’s total significantly, taking them over to a decent total at the venue where they chased the first-ever double-hundred target.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore started off in a decent manner, as Virat Kohli and Phil Salt gave them a great start in the chase, having scored 75 runs in the 6 overs of the powerplay itself. Virat Kohli was the first wicket to fall, as Harsh Dubey picked the first scalp of the match.

Despite Phil Salt having scored a decent 62, the SRH skipper brought himself back into the attack to pick the big wicket of the English opener. Until Salt was on the crease, the game looked well in control of the Challengers; however, after his dismissal, some fireworks of the RCB middle order were soon shut down as the SRH bowlers excelled with efforts towards the death.

Cummins finished with 3 wickets to his name, as the captain led from the front in SRH’s 5th win of this season. For the first time this season, Sunrisers looked the complete package they were expected to be at the beginning of the season.
