IPL 2024 Points Table: The Five-times Champions Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets in the match no.55 at Wankhede Cricket Stadium. However, Mumbai Indians weren’t in the race for the IPL 2024 Playoffs as they are currently in 9th spot in the IPL 2024 Points Table. But, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost a crucial match against MI and now, they need to win all the upcoming games to remain in the race for IPL 2024 Playoffs.
Suryakumar Yadav played an exceptional knock of 102 runs for Mumbai Indians in this match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and led them to victory after four consecutive losses in the tournament. MI’s both batting and bowling departments performed collectively which resulted in a good victory however, they will be looking to experiment few players in the upcoming matches which will help them retain the players accordingly in the IPL 2025 Auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batted first but their batters were struggling against the bowlers of Mumbai Indians as the pitch was good for bowling. Therefore, SRH were able to score 173 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 8 wickets, Travis Head scored 48 runs in 30 balls whereas skipper Pat Cummins played an impactful inning of 35 runs in the death over.
From the Mumbai Indians bowling department, Piyush Chawla and Skipper Hardik Pandya took three wickets each whereas Purple cap holder Jasprit Bumrah and Anshul Kamboj took one wicket each in this match. SRH batters could have played better cricket, they failed to correctly judge the surface of the pitch.
In the second Inning, Mumbai Indians (MI) lost three wickets in the first four overs but after that, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma made a crucial and match-winning partnership of 133 runs for the fourth wicket and led MI to the victory without losing the wicket. Suryakumar Yadav knocked his first century of this tournament as he scored 102 runs in 51 balls with 12 fours and 6 sixes.
Tilak Verma showed great intent and stood with Surya till last, he scored 37 runs in 32 balls. From the SRH bowling unit, Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen took one wicket in this match.

After the MI vs SRH match, competition for the 3rd and 4th positions got tougher as SRH, CSK and LSG are now in the same boat.
