The Mumbai Indians are a very amazing franchise. The IPL 2023 season is nearing, and they will be trying to put their strategies in place. “Impact Player” is a new rule that can be used in IPL 2023. This basically means an Indian player can be replaced by any other Indian player, or an overseas player can be replaced by an overseas player, at any point in the match. This effectively allows a team to play one extra batter in the batting innings or one extra bowler in the bowling innings. Here is a look at the players who can be impact players for the Mumbai Indians:
Jasprit Bumrah can be Mumbai Indians’ impact player in IPL 2023:
Jasprit Bumrah is a workhorse. He has a lot of workload on him. The best way to use Bumrah is to make him bowl his quota of overs and allow him to take a rest. This can be implemented in the following way. If the Mumbai Indians will be batting first, they will not have Bumrah in the line-up.
They can make use of Tilak Varma or any additional Indian batter like Ramandeep Singh. The moment the batting innings ends, Ramandeep is out and Bumrah walks in to bowl his 4 overs. If bowling first, it will be vice-versa.
Piyush Chawla can be Mumbai Indians’ impact player in IPL 2023:
Piyush Chawla is most likely to be the “Impact Player”. Considering Piyush Chawla’s fitness and the requirements of today’s game, there is a small possibility that he may find it difficult. So, the best option is to ask him to bowl his 4 exceptional overs of spin which he is amazing at, and let him rest. He can be replaced by any other Indian batter who is great in the field. Mohammad Arshad Khan is also an exciting prospect.
Dewald Brevis/Tristan Stubbs:
Dewald Brevis or Tristan Stubbs can be put into the team when the team requires an additional batter. This is how it works. If the Mumbai Indians are playing a must-win game and are batting second. After losing 3 wickets in quick succession, the best option will be to ask Brevis or Stubbs to walk in to take charge in place of the foreign pacer which they will play. The 4 expected foreign players are Tim David, Cameron Green, Jofra Archer, and Jason Behrendoff/ Jhye Richardson. So, in place of the 2nd pacer, these batters can be bought in.
