The Indian Cricket Team announced their team for the white-ball series against the West Indies. India is coming from a thumping series defeat at the hands of South Africa in their hometown. West Indies Tour of India 2022 begins on the 6th of February. The series has 3 games of One-Day Internationals and 3 T20Is. They are going to be played in Ahmedabad and Kolkata respectively. Jasprit Bumrah Rested for West Indies Tour of India, Rohit Makes a Comeback:
The team for the series was announced on the 26th evening. There are several changes in both the announced teams. However, Jasprit Bumrah, India’s leading pacer has been rested for all of the 6 matches. Mohammad Shami has been rested too.
Rohit Sharma is back as the skipper of the white-ball team after recovering from a hamstring injury. He will be leading the team in both formats. KL Rahul will be his deputy. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been dropped from the ODI team. On the other hand, Deepak Hooda, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi have got their maiden call-ups in ODIs. Ruturaj Gaikwad too features in the ODI team.
The other developments are that leg spinners are back in business. India has called-up Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav. Yadav had been an integral part of the team before the 2019 ODI World Cup but was sidelined after that. However, the wrist spinners have been called back now. Bishnoi on the other hand gets his maiden national team call-up for the West Indies tour of India. Ravichandran Ashwin has been sacked after a mediocre comeback in the white-ball format against South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja is still not fit for selection.
