Indian players who have been instructed to feature in the upcoming Duleep Trophy by the BCCI

Just prior to India’s white-ball tour to Sri Lanka, the BCCI issued the regulation that all team India national players must take part in the domestic tournaments with the likes of the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare, and also the Duleep Trophy.

Now India is about to enter their test schedule, which features several tests for the next three months, hence likely having the likes of the finest players in the playing XI for the longest format of the game. The BCCI has instructed even some of the greatest of the game to feature in the upcoming domestic circle.

This is a major highlight of the Gambhir era, as he has mentioned prioritizing domestic cricket even for the greatest of players. India’s veteran batters, skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, are also likely to feature in the Duleep Trophy this time, and this will be an impressive take on the career of the two greats and also the recent history of the Duleep Trophy.

The management has also given clear instructions to players like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav, who are all India national team players, to compulsorily participate in the upcoming Duleep trophy.


Surya has already made himself available for the Buchi Babu tournament and hence made his intentions clear; however, the other players are yet to make a decision from their end. Though considering their current form and India’s chances at the WTC final in the upcoming year at Lord’s, these players should play the domestic circle to make themselves suitable to enter the national team.

Though some likes of Pant, Shami, and Bumrah are yet to be seen in the domestic games, as youngsters, Sarfaraz, Dhruv Jurel, and experienced Ashwin are known to feature in the domestic games every year.

Also, the participation of these senior players will give a huge platform for the young players who can showcase their talents alongside the presence of these senior cricketers, a dream come true for them.
