India vs South Africa Test Match: India won by 113 runs in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in three-match series. Set a rigid target of 305, South Africa ended their innings for 191 on the fifth and final day of the opening Test match on Thursday. At lunch break, Temba Bavuma and Marco Jansen were hitting 34 and 5 respectively, as the hosts still trailed India by 123 runs. South Africa completed their fourth day at 94/4 with captain Dean Elgar unbeaten on 52 after an Indian batsman caved in on a track with uneven bounce, obtaining all out for 174 in only 50.3 overs.

Earlier, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant top-scored for India in the second innings with a run-a-ball 34 as the visiting team was all out for 174 in the second innings. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen received four wickets each while Lungi Ngidi received two wickets in South Africa. India outscored South Africa in 197 after making 327 in their first innings.
