The India VS Australia 2nd Test is turning in favor of Australia. Like every India VS Australia game, this is also going to be a nail-biter. The team batted exceptionally well in the last session to make this happen. The initial part of the day saw the first innings even out. The reason for that was a century-long partnership between Axar Patel and R. Ashwin. Nathan Lyon had a good time with the ball in hand. He took a 5-wicket haul for the Australian team. India was reduced to 140-7 before Ashwin and Axar joined forces. Here is an in-depth look:
India VS Australia 2nd Test, Day 2, 1st Session:
The 1st session saw India end on a back foot. As the Aussies scalped 4 wickets. India began from their overnight score of 21-0 and had a steady start. They were 46-1 when the first wicket fell and then the innings had a minor collapse. The team lost 3 more wickets in quick succession. First Rahul, then Rohit, then Pujara, and then come back man Shreyas Iyer. India was reduced to 66-4. A partnership was needed. Ravindra Jadeja walked out to bat and took matters into his own hands. Virat Kohli bailed out India till lunch in the India VS Australia 2nd Test Match.
India VS Australia 2nd Test, Day 2, 2nd Session:
The second session kind off belonged to India but Nathan Lyon too. He further attacked the Indians. Virat and Jaddu were batting well. They stitched up a 50-run partnership too. Not before Todd Murphy hit Jadeja right on his pads in front of the wicket. It was a flaw on part of Jaddu to play so close to the pad. Just some late turn and Jaddu had to walk back. India was 125-5. Virat was given out controversially too. This added to the spice of the India VS Australia 2nd Test Match.
The snicko meter showed a spike when the ball was close to the bat and pad, but the third umpire did overturn the decision. There wasn’t conclusive evidence to overturn and hence Virat had to walk back. Suddenly India was in hot waters again. Bharat also went back without troubling the scorers a lot. Axar and Ashwin now had the job to take India to a decent position.
2nd Test, Day 2, 3rd Session:
The first half of the third session was dominated by India but the second one was dominated by the Aussies and there is exactly where they turned the game in their favor. Axar and Ashwin stitched up a century stand between them. But the big chunk of the scoring was done quickly. They attacked the opposition in times of crisis and took India out of the tough situation.
But when the Aussies walked into bat, Travis Head showed immense character. He attacked the spinners too. He wasn’t allowing the bowlers to settle and was playing on the full to neutralize the turn. He took the Australians to 62-1 at end of the day play with a lead of 61 runs. The India VS Australia 2nd Test now hangs in balance with the Aussies having a slight upper hand.
