SLvsIND: Following the eruption of covid cases inside the Sri Lankan cricket squad, the much-awaited India tour of Sri Lanka is all set to be postponed by a couple of days to ensure safe conduction.

The tour which was earlier slated to kickstart on July 13 is now expected to begin from 17th July onwards.

As per Insidesports, Sri Lanka cricket will announce the revised schedule for the series by tomorrow, which is 10th July.

The cricket board earlier today confirmed that GT Niroshan has been tested covid positive, a day after batting coach Grant Flower contracted the dreaded virus.

“All players of the team have tested negative, but we are mindful of the fact that the team’s batting coach & data analyst tested positive and for that reason, we will have rescheduled the series”, confirmed Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohana De Silva.

The schedule will be announced once the BCCI and all the broadcasters are brought to the same page by Sri Lanka Cricket.

It is learnt that the returning players from England are unlikely to get a single net session before the first ODI against India.

“We can’t help the situation. These are the kind of times we are living in, the team will have to follow all health protocols as directed by the authorities. Yes, it is correct the players who will be selected from the squad who were in England is unlikely to get a net session before 1st game against India. The good part is none of them has tested positive in the 1st test”, declared Pramodya Wickramasinghe, Selector of Sri Lanka Cricket.
