India tour of England 2025: BCCI releases full schedule, Test match venues and match dates: The schedule for India’s five-Test series-long visit of the United Kingdom was released by the BCCI on Thursday.
India will commence a new World Test Championship cycle with a visit that will take them nearly two months, with Test matches to be played in London, Headingley, Birmingham, and Manchester. India have not won a Test series in England since 2007 – in 2021 they came close, but it ended in a 2-2 draw.
Rohit Sharma, who has already beaten Australia and England at home, now aspires to create history as he prepares for one of the biggest challenges of his Test and captaincy career.

As is always the case, the matches in England will take place across their five major Test centres. The first match of the series will be played at the Leeds Cricket Ground in Headingley from June 20 to June 24.After a week’s gap, the games will move to Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham from July 2 to July 6.
Four days later, the third Test will be played at the Mecca of cricket, the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, in the heart of London, followed by Old Trafford in Manchester. The fifth and final match of the series will be played at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4.

As of now, it is not clear if India will play any practice matches. Ahead of the series, if they qualify, India will take part in the World Test Championship final – which could be scheduled just before the start of the series.

India currently lead the WTC standings with a win percentage of 68.51%, higher than second-placed Australia, although the reigning Test champions are ahead in points – 74 compared to 90. Rohit and his team have played three Tests fewer, winning 6 out of 9.
When India last visited England in 2021, Virat Kohli captained the squad, and after spending 14 years in the UK, they came dangerously near to winning the series.
The first Test ended in a draw, as the last day’s play was washed out due to rain and India’s chances of taking an early lead were lost. The Men in Blue then defeated England by 151 runs at Lord’s. This was the same match in which Kohli immortalised the ’60 overs of hell’ line and KL Rahul scored a memorable century.
England levelled the series in Leeds, defeating India by an innings and 76 runs, although Kohli’s team did not allow England to stay in the match for very long. At the Oval, Rohit Sharma amassed his first-ever Test century away from home, leading India to a decisive 157-run victory over Joe Root’s team.
Unfortunately, the Covid epidemic forced the postponed of the fifth and final Test in Manchester. The game was rescheduled for the next year and was won by England at Edgbaston by a margin of 7 wickets.
England and India have already played a few occasions. In a hard five-Test series that took place in February and March of this year, the two teams faced off, with India emerging victorious 4-1.
During that time, Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as a star cricketer, who proved himself by scoring more than 700 runs including two double centuries.
The series saw India give Test debuts to five youngsters – starting with Rajat Patidar and then Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep and Devdutt Padikkal, who made significant contributions during these two months.
