IND vs SL: The three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka are all set to start. The first game of the series will be played at Pallekele International Stadium on July 27 (Saturday). This series will end in four days. This will be the first time India will play a series under new head coach Gautam Gambhir. After the retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, India are looking to build up a new team.

Suryakumar Yadav has taken over the captaincy, and India have a number of questions to find out in the coming IND vs SL T20Is. However, the biggest question will be about the first-choice wicket-keeper. India have picked up Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson in the squad. So can these two play together. It looks a bit difficult.

With Rohit and Virat not available in T20Is, there will be two spots to fill in the batting order. We saw Pant playing all the games in the T20 World Cup 2024, and Samson has to sit out. But will Gambhir look to give Samson more chances in the coming IND vs SL T20Is?

Gambhir is someone who is known for making bold decisions, but what about the team combinations? Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are likely to be the openers for the coming series. Captain Suryakumar will bat at his usual position of no. 4. Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, and Axar Patel are lined up next in the batting order.

Pant and Samson are not finishers who can play at no. 5 or 6, so only one spot is remaining, which is at no. 3. That’s where Pant will have an edge. He batted at No. 3 in the T20 World Cup 2024 and played some crucial knocks for India.

Pant has made the no. 3 of his own with his fearless approach and X-factor that he brings to the table. That’s where we believe that Samson might have to warm the bench in the coming series. However, nothing can be said, and it all depends on the management, but Pant is likely to get the nod in the first IND vs SL T20Is on July 27.
