IND vs NZ: Kiwi legend and arguably the best bowler from New Zealand, as he has the most wickets for the nation across any format. Tim Southee, who has an invincible record with the ball for the Blackcaps, has several records to his name with the ball in hand.
Now, Southee, who recently stepped down as the Kiwi red-ball skipper, has achieved a huge milestone in his Test career. Tim Southee is now the batter with the sixth-most sixes in red-ball cricket, as he surpassed the likes of Virender Sehwag.
Southee, who came into bat when New Zealand were struggling at 233/7, launched his attack on Indian bowlers as the duo managed a 135-run partnership between Southee and Ravindra for the 8th wicket. Southee scored a quickfire 50 off just 52 balls, in which he hit 3-sixes to take his total tally to 93 sixes in Test cricket.
Other than this, the New Zealand veteran also has the record of having scored the second-fastest 2000 runs in the history of Test cricket, as this feat has been achieved by Southee not in terms of matches or innings but by the least number of balls faced. Only Ben Duckett surpassed him having scored 2000 test runs in just 2293 balls leaving behind Southee who scored it in 2418 balls.
In this feat, he also surpassed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has now increased his tally of sixes to 88, as Rohit is still in sight of Sehwag’s all-time record for most sixes for the Indian team in Tests.
