IND vs ENG: Injured Rishabh Pant Ruled Out of IND vs ENG Tests; BCCI Brings Back Ishan Kishan

Rishabh Pant
IND vs ENG: Team India has suffered another major setback in the ongoing Test series between India and England.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant got injured during the Manchester Test and is now out of the entire series.

According to a report in The Indian Express, Pant has suffered a fracture in his toe and has been advised six weeks of rest.

Injured in reverse sweep, out for six weeks

The injury occurred when Pant tried to play a reverse sweep and the ball hit his right foot directly.

Initially it was expected that he could come back to bat after taking painkillers, but now it is clear that he is unable to even walk.

A BCCI source said, “The scan report has revealed a fracture and he will not be able to play for six weeks.

The medical team was trying to get him to bat after taking painkillers, but he is still unable to walk without support.” Ishan Kishan returns to the Test team after two years

Ishan Kishan has now been included in the team in place of Pant. Kishan last played a Test match for India in July 2023.

He recently played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025 and scored a brilliant century in his debut match.

However, both Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were dropped from the BCCI Central Contract earlier this year as they did not give priority to domestic cricket. But a strong performance in the IPL has given Kishan a chance to return.

Team India struggling with injuries

Apart from Pant’s injury, Team India is already troubled by the absence of players like Nitish Kumar Reddy (knee injury), Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. In such a situation, Pant’s exclusion can increase the difficulties for the team.

India’s position in Manchester Test

India scored 264/4 on the first day of the Manchester Test. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal together gave a solid start of 78 runs.

After this, Sai Sudarshan scored a brilliant 61 runs on debut. His 72-run partnership with Pant was important, after which Pant got injured.

At present, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur are present at the crease and are keeping India in a strong position.

For England, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes showed sharpness in the opening bowling, but the team failed to take advantage of the new ball. Liam Dawson took the important wicket of Jaiswal. The day’s play was ended early due to poor light.

Will injured India be able to win the final Test?

Now all eyes are on the final Test to be held at The Oval from July 31, where Ishan Kishan’s return and possible changes in Team India’s playing XI will be seen.

Despite many injuries, India has shown excellent game so far, but will this injured team be able to end the series with a win?

It will be interesting to see if this mix of young players and old stars can create history in England.
