ICC T20 World Cup

The defending champions of the 2019 ODI World Cup will also be keen on getting their hands on their 2nd T20 World Cup at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. After winning the trophy in 2010, the England team has had a drought in the T20 format. The format seems ideal for the team as the team makes use of the “SLAM-BANG” strategy with effective technique. England seems to be a top contender for the trophy as they have good freelance cricketers. The list of match-winners includes Liam Livingstone, Alex Hales, and Jos Butler. Here is an in-depth look:

Predictions for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

The England team is expected to not make it to the semi-finals. They have a good team but they fall into the group of death. This group has New Zealand and Australia too. I am assuming New Zealand will be the dark horse. Knowing their past performances on the global stage, and that they have always done very well, New Zealand will qualify, keeping England out of contention.

Top Performers for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

Jos Butler:

If Butler hits the form he was in IPL 2022, England is going all the way! IMG SRC: Rajasthan Royals

A lot will rely on Jos Butler. Butler happens to be the senior-most batter in this unit. He also plays a crucial position. An opener is the only person who has to play proactively. He has the chance to set the pace of the chase or the first innings. With that being said, captaincy also falls on his shoulders. He has the experience of a lifetime. He has been playing the IPL since 2018 and has been a part of the leadership group of England since 2019. He has a lot to offer and a lot of responsibilities but he also has the potential to do very well in all of those.

Ben Stokes:

From one senior player to another. Sir Benjamin Stokes will also have a lot of responsibility. He hasn’t played the white-ball format for a very long time. He will have to get in the groove before starting with the national team. Ben Stokes is a multi-dimensional player that any national team would want. He can bat exceptionally well. He is generally used as a number 4 batter by England which speaks volumes of his ability with the bat. Stokes is also a bank of 3 to 4 overs with the ball in hand.
